How to Repair A Kenmore Dryer?
You may need to know how to repair a Kenmore dryer if it won’t start or your towels aren’t heating up. Repair clinics can help you solve this problem if you’re in need of a new dryer. Here are some ways Scarborough Appliance Repairs check if your dryer is broken:
Problems with a Kenmore dryer
If your dryer has stopped functioning properly, the most common problem may be a malfunctioning control board. This board controls the functions of your dryer and provides voltage to each component. You can easily check this board by unplugging your dryer and removing the end panels. If you see scorch marks or a buildup of moisture, the control board may be faulty. If this is the case, you will be unable to use the dryer. A restart of the dryer will usually solve the issue.
First, check to see what the error code is. If it’s a Kenmore dryer, you’ll see two numbers. You can usually find the second number by counting the number of times the start light flashes. Another problem may be a buzzing sound coming from the dryer. This is connected to the cycle timer, so wait until the buzzing stops. This could mean the timer is out or a fuse has blown.
Checking the heating element
If your Kenmore dryer is not heating up properly, it could be due to a broken heating element. This component is found inside the dryer and measures approximately 10.5 inches long by 7.5 inches wide by two inches deep. It connects the dryer’s heating system to the heater housing and can become damaged through wear and material fatigue. In addition, excessive exposure to high temperatures can cause the heating element to break. If you notice that the heating element is no longer providing heat, you should replace it. The heating element can be accessed through the dryer’s model number, which can be found underneath the door or on the body. If you cannot find the model number, you can enter it in quotations to locate the part.
Another common cause of Kenmore dryers not heating is a blown fuse or tripped breaker. These devices act like a fuse, but they are not resettable. They stop the machine from heating, even when the switch is turned off. Thermal cutoffs are located near the heating elements on the duct where the heated air enters the drum. Check for continuity and replace with a Hi-Limit thermostat.
Replacing the igniter
If your gas dryer is not lighting, you can easily replace the igniter by following the simple instructions provided below. The igniter is located on the side of the gas burner funnel and glows white during the ignition process. However, if the igniter is broken or fails to light the gas, the dryer will not work. In order to replace the igniter on your gas dryer, you must use a new one from a manufacturer-approved dealer. You can also follow the instructions in this video to replace the igniter on your gas dryer.
To replace the igniter on a Kenmore dryer, you must first remove the bottom case and exhaust vent. Once you have removed them, you can test the resistance of the igniter using a multimeter. The resistance should be measured with the meter as long as it is a minimum of one ohm. Before you replace the igniter, make sure the gas supply is turned off, and wear work gloves to protect your hands.
Checking the drive belt
If your Kenmore dryer has stopped spinning, you can check its drive belt for wear. A worn belt can lead to overheating and overstressing of the motor. The bearings may also be damaged. If the rollers do not spin freely, you may also have to replace them. In addition, the drum may have become stuck, putting strain on the motor and eventually shutting down the dryer.
Another problem may be the drum belt. This belt runs around the drum, the motor pulley, and the idler pulley. It rotates the drum during the drying cycle. If the drum does not move, it’s likely that the drive belt is worn out. The drum belt is approximately 1/4-inch wide and is made of rubber. A worn or damaged drum belt may cause the dryer to stop turning completely, or it may even stop spinning. To fix this problem, simply remove the drum and replace the belt with a putty knife and a screwdriver set.
